COLLEGE PLACE – More jobs are coming to College Place. Goodwill Industries of the Columbia broke ground Tuesday on a $5.9 million dollar building on C Street across from Home Depot.
Construction was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as Goodwill’s cash flow was impacted by how long their stores were closed due to the novel coronavirus, Executive Director Ken Gosney said.
Goodwill’s new site in College Place will include 24,000 square feet of retail and warehouse/processing space, plus the Employment Connection Center. The plan is to open the end of June 2022.
“This location will employ 35 people which is a nine full-time employee increase over our current Walla Walla location,” Gosney said.
In November 2019, Goodwill announced it was moving its Walla Walla location at 217 East Alder Street because it lost 25 leased parking spots to the planned Penrose Hotel.
