LA GRANDE – (Information provided by Grande Ronde Hospital)  Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics (GRH) will host a virtual public Town Hall on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 6 PM to 7 PM to address critical concerns of hospital capacity. The Town Hall will be live streamed at www.fb.com/grh01. There will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions at the end. Please plan to join us for this community message.

GRH President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeremy Davis will host the event. He will be joined by several members of the Medical Staff. He will also be joined by Public Health Administrator Carrie Brogoitti from the Center for Human Development, La Grande School District Superintendent George Mendoza, and La Grande Mayor Steve Clements. We are still working to confirm the presence of additional local government officials.

The delta variant has hit the nation, the state of Oregon and Union County hard, primarily among the unvaccinated. Combined with a major staffing strain from months of COVID care, hospital capacity across the state has reached a crisis. We are challenged with the ability to transfer patients to other facilities for care, or receive patients in need of care.

Locally, this capacity crisis will continue to affect the care and wellbeing of our whole community if we do not come together and do all we can to mitigate the current situation. If the hospital is full and our emergency services are at capacity, the potential impact that has locally on medical emergencies or needed surgeries is something we must avoid.

Please tune in to hear firsthand from your local, trusted health care providers and community leaders about how we can work together to support local mitigation efforts.
