PRAIRIE CITY – The community center in Prairie City has received a hefty check that will help keep things up at the center.
The Oregon Community Foundation has awarded $15,000 to the Greater Prairie City Community Association to update the community center at the corner of Bridge and 6th Streets. 17 Eastern Oregon nonprofits received a total of $265,889 in this latest round.
According to an informational release, the grans are dedicated “…to organizations working to expand access to education, health services, economic opportunity, arts and culture and more. Grants awarded in rural towns and urban neighborhoods reflect OCF’s commitment to strengthening communities and tackling urgent needs.”
The Oregon Community Foundation stated, “The 2025 Fall Cycle prioritized small capital projects (under $500,000), capacity building and new or expanding programs and projects.” In total, OCF awarded $5.1 million in this round of grant funding.
