PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission is reconsidering its decision to limit the Love Your Home forgivable loan program to three per year. The PDC Advisory Committee asked the commission to consider changes that could increase the number of recipients.
“They want us to review these grants quarterly and make the homeowners provide a 50 percent match of up to $5,000, but instead of having only three $10,000 grants, they’d like to have eight,” Mayor John Turner said.
Turner said the commission needs more information before making a change.
“We’ll have to work with them on that,” he said. “I’m not sure where that money would come from.”
The Love Your Home program was cut back along with other PDC grants because the commission is beginning to make payments on its line of credit and less money is available. The program was instituted as a way of cutting down on blight within the urban growth boundaries.
