SALEM – The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries is offering grants for qualified historic cemeteries. Umatilla, Union, and Wasco counties received grants in the past. There are a number of projects that are eligible. They include, but are not limited to, marker repair workshops, fencing, signs, interpretive panels, security lighting, and records management.
The grants typically range between $1,000 and $8,000. However, they have been higher in the past. Anyone may apply for a grant. The only prerequisite is that the cemetery be listed with the commission.
There will be a free online workshop on applying for a grant from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. Registration for the workshop is required. Recorded trainings and tips are also available online.
