Grant County’s Open Campus: FAFSA delayed until December

JOHN DAY – OSU Extension Open Campus Coordinator Didgette McCracken was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Wednesday, informing listeners that the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), will not be available until December. She said students and parents should expect to work on the form in January 2024:
“Normally, that opens October 1st. They are looking at having that available now in December, and they are advising us [to] let people know [to] work on that in January.
There are changes to the form. It’s going to look a little different. If you already have a username and password, you’re fine; you’re still in the system. They are just revamping what that looks like.”
McCracken also mentioned that parents will need to have their 2022 taxes filed when filling out the FAFSA form.
