Grant County’s high country is under a Winter Weather Advisory

GRANT COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas in Grant County above 4,000 feet, lasting through 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Other areas throughout Eastern Oregon are under an advisory as well.

An incoming system will continue to bring moderate to locally heavy mountain snow across the Blue Mountains. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Blue Mountains in Oregon and Washington through 4PM Thursday for elevations of 4000 feet and above. An additional 2 to 6 inches of snow is expected through this afternoon. Winds will also be gusting as high as 45 mph, which may impact travel and visibilities as blowing snow will be possible.

AFTERNOON ABOVE 4500 FEET…

* WHAT…Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches above

  4500 feet and up to 2 inches between 4000 and 4500 feet. Winds

  gusting as high as 50 mph with blowing snow.

* WHERE…Ochoco-John Day Highlands.

* WHEN…Until 4 PM PST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS…Even light snowfall amounts can accumulate on roads and

  cause dangerous driving conditions due to slippery and

  snow-covered roads. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
