JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush on Tuesday informed KJDY’s Coffee Time listeners that the years-long communications improvement project may be on the downhill side of completion. Some monitoring and potential adjustments still need to happen before the contractors are turned loose from the project, according to Bush.

He said even so, communications have already improved in many of our remote areas:

“Just as an example, I had to respond to a traffic accident out at the Baker County line—way out past Prairie City there, up Reynold’s Creek. At the Baker County Line, with the equipment that’s been installed in my vehicle, I could talk to dispatch on my portable radio, and it was clear as a bell, which we have never been able to do before.”
