JOHN DAY – April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Grant County Victim’s Assistance Advocate Dorothy Blood, along with Heart of Grant County Advocate Rayme Lacey, were on KJDY’s Coffee Time to expand on the awareness.

Blood said this has been a focus in April for twenty-three years:

“This year is the twenty-third annual anniversary of [National] Sexual Assault Awareness Month. They have a theme this year of ‘Building Connected Communities.’ The idea behind that is the more connected we are in the communities we live in, the more information and awareness that’s out there; then that helps prevent things like sexual assault.”
