JOHN DAY – Grant Education Service District Superintendent Robert Waltenburg was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and mentioned that all schools within the district need substitutes of all types:

“So, as always, the schools really are hurting for substitutes. It can be anybody from subbing in the classroom, to bus drivers, to classified staff, to custodians—they are just hurting when it comes to substitutes. I think everybody is in the same pinch with [the] workforce right now.”

Watenburg said anyone with a four-year degree who may be interested in being a substitute to contact the ESD Office to go forth in getting the proper licensure. For folks without, contact your local school district to see which programs are in place to achieve one’s certification.
