JOHN DAY – The Grant Count Sherriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team has been busy, according to Sheriff Todd McKinley. He said they were called out last week to a motorist who became stuck in the snow:

“Wednesday, we had a search and it was an individual who was trying to get to Sunshine Guard Station by way of Portland. So, in between that drive, the individual apparently tried to use a GPS which led them on a route not passable this time of year.”

In the winter especially, it’s best to know your route before you leave. Log on to ODOT’s tripcheck.com to view a map of the state, along with current highway conditions and road cameras.
