JOHN DAY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Thursday, and said the Search and Rescue team for the county have seen an increase in missions. He said the team successfully rescued a hiker in the Strawberry Wilderness:
“We’ve had an individual fall up in the edge of the wilderness, and do some significant damage [and got an] ankle injury. We helped get her packed out of there and back down, and flown out. That was a pretty significant event for her, and it’s going to affect her for a long time. Search and Rescue got in there, Prairie City Public Works, the Blue Mountain Hospital crew, and Life Flight, too, and was able to get her taken care of and get her out of there.”
