CANYON CITY – Grant County has been in a state of emergency due to wildfires since its original declaration in July. The Grant County Court meets at noon on Friday, September 6th, to “re-emphasize the emergency,” according to Grant County Judge Scott Myers.
Grant County Emergency Management reports that, “Planning for a Red Cross Shelter in Mt. Vernon is complete. We will update you when and if it is opened.”
Emergency evacuation zones are in place, and have been expanding since the start of the Rail Ridge Fire south of Dayville, on Labor Day.
