GRANT COUNTY – Engineers from the Tekniam company recently visited Grant County to display the capabilities of newly acquired communications equipment known as RUCS, or Remote Universal Communications System. Staff members from the company flew to Grant County from Denver and Kansas City to set up and demonstrate the latest innovations in satellite, cellular and wireless communications that can function anywhere—regardless of utilities or services available.
Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush posted photos to social media of the engineers demonstrating and explaining the equipment to Sheriff Todd McKinley as well as Commissioners Rowell and Hamsher.
According to Bush, the Grant County RUCS project is almost exclusively funded through a State Department of Homeland Security grant that was awarded late last year.
