JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush has spoken previously about the Resilience Hub Network being formed Grant County. In his most recent visit to KJDY Studios, Bush gave listeners an update on the resilience hub grants received from the state:

“We’ve received more of these resilience hub shelters…than any other county in the state. We were only one of two counties east of the Cascades to receive any. We made, I think, a really compelling argument that because of what I call the ‘tyranny of distance,’ outlying communities need to be resilient. They need to be self-sufficient, at least for a period of time.”

The hubs all conveniently pack into a shipping-type container and have already been placed in the communities of Long Creek, Dayville, and Seneca. Bush said the final hub will be set up at the Grant County Fairgrounds in the near future.
