Grant County officials sworn into office on Monday

CANYON CITY – Grant County’s elected and re-elected officials were sworn into office on Monday morning. The ceremony took place at the Grant County Court’s regular meeting room at the Courthouse in Canyon City.

Each official appeared in front of Grant County Judge Scott Myers, who has held the position for the last 24 years. Incoming Grant County Judge Jim Hamsher was the last to be sworn in. Following the ceremony, the official Grant County Bible was handed to Judge Jim Hamsher.

Sworn into office on Monday, January 6th were (in order):

  • Assessor David Thunnell
  • Clerk Laurie Cates
  • Commissioner (Position #2) Mitchell Wilson
  • Justice of the Peace Richard Tirico
  • Sheriff Todd McKinley
  • Treasurer Julie Ellison
  • Judge Jim Hamsher
