GRANT COUNTY – ODFW’s John Day District Assistant Wildlife Biologist Ryan Platte was in the KJDY and News102 Newsroom recently to discuss wolves. Platte reminded landowners that folks with land east of U.S. Highway 395 are able to designate agents, who are then allowed to lethally remove wolves that are pursuing livestock:
“An agent permit is actually nothing you need to apply for. The landowner or producer can just designate an agent for themselves, and they can sign up anyone they want. With that, east of [Highway] 395, it is legal to shoot a wolf that is caught in the act of biting, chasing, killing, or harassing cattle.”
