CANYON CITY (Press Release from Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley)
On August 29th, 2024, an inspection team from the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association completed an on-site inspection of the Grant County Jail, pursuant to Oregon Jail Standards.
The Grant County Jail is a 41-bed facility that was opened in 1997, replacing the old jail that was constructed in the Court House in the 1950’s.
Under the supervision and diligent work of Corrections Sgt. Wade Waddel and staff, the Grant County Jail achieved an overall rating of 99.04% pursuant to ORS 169.076, meeting the accreditation requirements for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Standards of the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association Jail Standards.
The Grant County Sheriffs’ Office was presented with a Certificate of Accreditation dated October 8th, 2024, which is the first time that the Grant County Jail has achieved accreditation status.
