JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was on KJDY’s Coffee Time earlier this week, and explained that his office is currently undergoing efforts to protect the major communication infrastructure of Grant County:
“We’re executing a project right now, here in Grant County, where we’ve obtained grant funding to protect all of our sensitive radio equipment throughout the county up on mountain tops. So, it’ll be protected 24 hours a day from coronal mass ejections, lightning strikes, even an EMP—an electromagnetic pulse from, say, some sort of large blast, like a nuclear blast, up in the atmosphere.”
Bush said there are also personal home protection devices available on the market to help shield your electrical systems from those same threats.
