JOHN DAY – Blue Mountain Hospital District Human Resources Manager Maisey Tayor was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Monday to discuss the Grow Your Own Committee—a group who are dedicated to helping local young adults interested in entering a medical profession.

According to officials in the field, medical professionals are hard to come by in Grant County. The idea is to support local youth who would ideally wish to live and work in Grant County. Taylor said it is a community-wide, collaborative effort:

“Just to be clear, we couldn’t do this without them. This isn’t a ‘Blue Mountain Hospital only committee,’ it’s collaborative. That includes the Eastern Oregon Workforce Board, who facilitates the committee; WorkSource Oregon who gets out our openings to the public; OSU Extension—Didgette McKracken really participates and connects us with high school students. We’ve also included the Grant County schools, and the hospital.”
