JOHN DAY – Grant County Food Pantry Secretary Kris Beal contacted our newsroom recently, and said the pantry saw success with a greatly increased number of people who came in to get food last month. According to Beal, a record-breaking 215 families came to distribution day ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, leaving their food room almost bare. She said with December’s distribution right around the corner, they need volunteers to help:

“If they want to volunteer on the day the food comes, it starts about one o’clock [p.m.], and we’re usually done in a couple of hours. And then if they’d like to volunteer on distribution day, most of our volunteers that are on the food line—they come at seven [a.m.], and then we’re done at 1 o’clock in the afternoon.”

Food distribution day in December at the Grant County Food Pantry will be Wednesday, December 18th.
