Grant County FDB Chief Rynearson highlights evacuation procedures

JOHN DAY – Grant County Fire Defense Board Chief Marvin Rynearson says it’s important that each Grant County resident know the three-level evacuation process, should a wildfire situation arise near them. The chief was in the studio recently and explained the three levels:

“Step one is to get ready. In other words, get a plan together—get you bag ready; figure out what you’re going to do with your animals, yourself. If you have mobility restriction, on the first notice, you may want to start moving in that direction [to safety].

Step two—Be ready to go in a moment’s notice. In other words, have it packed and in the car. If you do have animals, you need to start moving your animals. Always keep your vehicle fueled and ready to go every night.

Three—that’s go now. That’s not, ‘stop and move your animals’ or anything, that’s GO!”
