JOHN DAY – The Grant County Fairgrounds is working toward expanding their RV park by adding spaces and facilities to the fairgrounds property off of the 3rd Street Extension in John Day.
The plan is to add 25 RV spaces to the area that will be completely gated with key code locks. The plan includes added bathrooms, showers, and a laundry facility. Fairgrounds Manager Mindy Winegar was in KJDY Studios recently and gave an update on the project:
โThe RV parkโitโs been slow, but it is coming along. We did get the zone change. It was mostly residential, so we got it re-zoned to park reserve. We are still trying to get the site review done, which we go to [John Day] City Council on [December] 9th, at 7 p.m.โ
In other fairgrounds news, Winegar said the contract has been signed for the headlining entertainment at the 2026 Grant County Fair. Winegar said the name is a big one, and the announcement will likely be made later this month.
