JOHN DAY – Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was in the studio yesterday, and said at this time, even though evacuation zones are in place, there has not been a need for an emergency evacuation shelter:

“We assessed the need and the demand. On the Level 3… ‘Go Now’ areas, really, it’s just two or three ranches and some cabins. The big one is hunters that are in the area. Of course, if they can’t hunt, they have a home to go to…they are just being evacuated from their campgrounds.”

Bush said he’s spoken with the American Red Cross, and should the need for a shelter arise, they will be available to get it in place.
