JOHN DAY – Grant County ESD’s Every Day Matters Coordinator, Bonni Booth, was in the newsroom recently speaking to the importance of school attendance. Booth said some students face barriers that may prevent them from showing up to school on time, or at all. She said that her job allows her to remove some of those barriers:
“I have a really supportive supervisor and program at the ESD. That’s allowed me to work with families and students to address some of the barriers that they might be facing in regular attendance. That might include transportation barriers. That might include needing an alarm clock. You know, it varies across the board, and I’m glad that I can provide supports ”
Booth has involvement with all five school districts throughout Grant County, working with staff and students to shoot for a goal of 90% attendance or better for each student.
