CANYON CITY – Grant County Emergency Management reports the old Berry Building in Canyon City, the current Emergency Operations Center, is undergoing renovations to make the facility more suitable to be an EOC. Years ago, the building served as the Grant Count Road Department facility. Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush said, “It’s a great example of using long-term strategic planning to care for and maintain public resources in the most fiscally responsible way possible.”
Bush said, “When it came to an Emergency Management EOC, in 2021 Grant County had nothing. Being one of the most fiscally constrained and wildfire vulnerable counties in the State, this gap seemed insurmountable. With hard work, relationships, and good leadership from our county officials we’re solving this challenge.”
