CANYON CITY – The Grant County Court signed an emergency drought resolution yesterday at the county court meeting. Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush stated, “When we anticipate that we may have a drought year, declaring a drought emergency is an important step in the administrative process to ensure that we have all the tools in our toolbox to address water issues.” Bush continued with, “It sets the conditions for us to be able to make adjustments with water and water regulations moving forward.”
The county-wide declaration follows recent declarations at the state level by Oregon Governor Tina Kotek for Baker and Umatilla counties. We’ll provide local drought updates as they are released.
