ADAMS – The Adams Public Library will enhance its services with a $25,922 grant from the Wildhorse Foundation, funding new bookshelves that are sturdier and taller.
Library Director Amanda Hespel said this improvement will create more shelf space, allowing the library to offer additional resources to the community that relies on it for enrichment, resources, and engagement.
The Adams Public Library, established in partnership with the city of Adams in 1988, serves around 400 people and has become a community hub, offering various programs; events; and a unique collection known as the “Library of Things,” featuring board games, household supplies, and small exercise equipment.
“The library is committed to providing as much as possible for our community,” Hespel said. “Thanks to a grant from the Wildhorse Foundation, we can now offer even more with the additional space these new bookshelves will provide.
The Wildhorse Foundation provides grants to eligible non-profit, government, and Tribal organizations. Reflecting the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation’s commitment to community well-being, funds are derived from Wildhorse Resort & Casino revenues. Grants are awarded quarterly to organizations primarily within the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla homeland, and to Native American organizations in Oregon. Since its establishment in 2001, the Wildhorse Foundation has awarded over $19 million dollars.
