Grandview man dies in fatal traffic collision on I-82

PROSSER – Heleodoro Lopez Rodriguez, 35, of Grandview died Sunday morning in a fatal traffic collision on I-82 westbound at milepost 83 in Prosser.

The Washington State Patrol said Lopez Rodriguez was traveling eastbound when he crossed the median and struck a semi traveling westbound head-on just before 10 a.m.

Lopez Rodriguez died at the scene. The semi driver, Jonathan J. Burgess, 36, of Pasco, was injured and transported to Prosser Memorial Health Hospital.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Troopers said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
