LA GRANDE – Grande Ronde Hospital’s new facility expansion hit an important milestone last Thursday, as the final structural beam was placed, topping out this phase of construction and marking the completion of the new facility’s steel framework. A Topping Out ceremony was held on-site, lead by GRH president and CEO, Jeremy Davis. The final beam also had the honor of being signed by GRH staff and members of the construction team. With that set-in place, the next phase of the project will see exterior walls and windows make their way onto the 96,000 square foot facility. Proud of the construction and what it will mean to the local area once completed, Union County Commissioner Paul Anders commented on the milestone:
“I think it’s a great project moving forward for not just La Grande but for the entire area to have better service locally. Really, to me it says a lot about our staff at Grande Ronde Hospital to be able to say, ‘I don’t have the skills or the ability or the tools to do the job and I’m going to send you out of area,’ and I think we’re going to be able to keep a lot more people here and treat them with incredibly high-quality care.”
For those curious to learn more about the project, GRH will have a fundraising and showcasing event at the Union County Fairgrounds on June 24.
