Grande Ronde Hospital & Clinics Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist John “Jeb” Reid, MD

LA GRANDE – (Release from Grande Ronde Hospital) Grande Ronde Hospital & Clinics (GRH) is proud to welcome John “Jeb” Reid, MD, to the GRH Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team. Dr. Reid brings decades of experience in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, and medical education, along with a deep passion for helping patients restore mobility and return to the activities they love. 

Dr. Reid completed medical school and residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, graduating cum laude and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society. He later completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute, where he practiced for 15 years in a private academic setting. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Reid has focused his research and teaching on sports medicine, arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, cartilage biomechanics, and joint replacement techniques. He has published extensively, presented nationally, and trained more than 40 orthopedic surgeons during his tenure as a fellowship director. 

Dr. Reid has also served as a Team Physician for the U.S. Ski Team for 20 years, in addition to supporting several high schools and universities in New Mexico and Oregon. Before joining GRH, he served as Chief of Surgery at Asante Ashland Community Hospital and Medical Site Director at Asante Ashland Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. 

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Reid shared, “Practicing orthopedic sports medicine has  provided me a sense of purpose and allowed me the opportunity to restore both function  and activities to an individual’s life.” His philosophy of care is grounded in one core  principle: “Always consider the patient-specific meaning of an injury and practice  evidence-based, patient-centered care.” 

Dr. Reid and his wife look forward to exploring the Grande Ronde Valley, enjoying the outdoors, and becoming part of the GRH team and community. His dedication to helping patients regain movement and confidence aligns with GRH’s mission to provide quality care close to home.
