LA GRANDE – (Release from Grande Ronde Hospital) Grande Ronde Hospital and Clinics (GRH) announces that an agreement has been reached with the La Grande School District (LGSD) to purchase a small tract of land adjacent to our main campus. For GRH, this land provides opportunities for much needed space for providing our patients with health care services and/or expanded parking.
During the initial stages of our current expansion project here on campus, the strong partnership GRH enjoys with LGSD led to our use of this space for housing the Bouten Construction offices for the project’s duration. Originally, the plan was to vacate that space once the project was complete. As the months have gone by, however, having that area occupied has not adversely impacted the school or the community.
“The strong partnership between GRH and the LGSD continues to provide opportunities to work together for the benefit of the people we both serve. Providing the best health care and education for our children further inspires the growth of strong families and a vibrant community,” said Jeremy Davis, President and CEO in announcing the news to staff.
Over the last five years, GRH has broached the possibility of purchasing some LGSD land adjacent to the campus before. However, the timing now for the purchase is beneficial for both parties to pursue, as LGSD will be able to continue to support Tiger Home Construction projects with no use of general school funds. Therefore, we approached LGSD once again to negotiate purchasing the space. We have waited to share the news officially pending the LGSD Board’s final decision.
While hospitals across the region, state and nation are curtailing services, the growing pains GRH is experiencing are hopeful signs of the vitality we enjoy and the bright future we envision.
