TOUCHET – The Walla Walla County Rural Library District is close to opening the brand-new Jean Sansom Memorial Library in Touchet, located at 82 Champion St., next to the Touchet School District.
The old Touchet library location will be closed from Jan. 21 to Feb. 10 to prepare the new library for its grand opening next month. This will allow library district staff to move collections, technology, and supplies.
While the library is closed, patrons can return books and materials to the book return at the new library location, plus visit the Burbank or College Place branches.
A grand opening event for the new Touchet library will be held Tuesday, Feb. 11 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The new library is named after Jean Marie Sansom, a former library district employee who died in 2020, was a resident of Touchet and worked for the library district for over 20 years.
