PENDLETON – The National Weather Service forecasts that while weather patterns will remain active in the Columbia Basin this week, the cold is slowly making its way out. National Weather Service Meteorologist Marc Austin says the good news is the warming trend won’t happen suddenly.
“It should be a fairly steady melting through the next couple of days which should help to alleviate any major flood potential as far as the lowlands go,” he said.
Austin said that since storm drains can get clogged, motorists should be alert and avoid driving through standing water.
“There is going to be the potential for some street flooding, certainly in the lower areas that are kind of more flood prone,” he said.
Austin said there will be little to no melting up in the mountains, at least through this week.
