OLYMPIA – Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has amended his emergency proclamation for last weeks flooding across the state, adding details about specific impacts across 14 counties.

Those counties are Benton, Chelan, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, King, Kittitas, Lewis, Pacific, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Thurston, Yakima, and Whatcom.

Ferguson is also directing $3.5 million in emergency funds for relief and recovery efforts. He also said the state’s Emergency Management Division is setting up disaster case management to help affected residents navigate available resources for long-term assistance.

Washington state is actively working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on applying for a Major Disaster Declaration, which would unlock additional federal resources.

“Our state is in the middle of a historic crisis, and it remains unpredictable,” Ferguson said. “We are not in the clear yet and Washingtonians must remain vigilant to stay safe. We are working around the clock to respond to this disaster. We will provide impacted communities the assistance they need as fast as possible.”

Thousands of residents remain under evacuation orders, and the release says more are expected over the next 48 hours. As of Tuesday morning, there are still numerous road closures including U.S. Highway 12 at Naches, and U.S. Highway 12 over Stevens Pass.

250 National Guard soldiers are still deployed to assist with the emergency response.
