PENDLETON – The goats will return to graze their way through Pendleton for the 12th year. Public Works Superintendent Jeff Brown said this year the goats from Long Creek will work about 100 acres.
“They’ll be out at the wastewater treatment plant and out at the old Lawman’s gun club which is out on Highway 37,” he said.
The goats will begin their work in mid-May and Brown said they’ll also be working along the Pendleton River Parkway.
“This does a good job of what we want it for,” he said. “Fire reduction and keeping the river levee clean where people can’t hide as well down there.”
When the goats are on the levee people will be asked to leash their dogs. The goats are separated from the public with electric fences and they are accompanied by guard dogs.
