HEPPNER – The city of Heppner has rescheduled a water shutoff that was originally set for Monday.
The shutoff applies to water customers on Gilmore Street between Cannon and Hager streets. It is now scheduled to take place on Tuesday.
“We understand that this is the third scheduling change and that repeated delays can be frustrating,” the city said in a statement. “Please know that we are working diligently to ensure the work is completed correctly and with as little disruption as possible.”
City officials said the postponement was due to unforeseen challenges accessing the necessary valves.
The shutdowns are being conducted to test whether the city could achieve a complete system shutdown. This is part of a planned water service transfer to a new 8-inch water line.
