PENDLETON – (News release from the Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of Fame) The Pendleton Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame Board of Directors will host the 12th annual Battle of the Bars, presented by Pendleton Whisky®, in the Let ’er Buck Room this Friday, April 19. The entire event is open to the public from 4-11 p.m. and is free. The event is for those over age 21.
Eleven different local bars will come together in the Let ’er Buck Room to compete for the 2024 Battle of the Bars title. New this year, each bar will make a signature drink that includes Pendleton Whisky® Midnight.
Attendees will be able to purchase drink tickets and vote for their favorite drink. Tasting chips will also be available for those that want to try all of the bars’ different drinks. At the end of the battle, votes will be tallied, and a winner will be crowned. The winning bar will receive bragging rights for a year, in addition to a swag bag and plaque. After the battle, the bar at the event will stay open until 11 p.m.
In addition to the bar battle, returning this year will be the third annual cornhole tournament. The cornhole tournament was added in 2022 to the Battle of the Bars event, and has been a great success. Teams of two will compete for $60 per team. Teams can sign up the night of the event from 4-4:45. The games will start at 5:00pm and will be played throughout the evening. Winners will receive a cash prize.
The Pendleton Round-Up & Happy Canyon Hall of Fame runs on donations, fundraisers, and grants as well as commitment from volunteers. The Battle of the Bars is the Hall of Fame’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
“Battle of the Bars is one of the most fun events the Hall of Fame puts on each year, and we’re so appreciative of the support we receive from local restaurants and bars who participate and the community members to attend,” said Casey White-Zollman, president of the Hall of Fame. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come together for some good-natured competition and some fun, all while raising money to help us continue to protect and preserve the traditions of the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon.”
