GCSO reports phone scam where caller purports to be Grant County Sergeant

CANYON CITY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley has issued a warning to the public regarding a recent scam circulating the area. Read the full press release below:

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of multiple recent instances where a caller representing themselves as Grant County Sergeant Rand or some other staff member, is calling locals telling them they have warrants.

This is a scam, and not generated through the Sheriff’s Office. Please do not give the callers any of your personal information. Hang up, and call the Grant County Emergency Communication Center at 541-575-0195 and report it.

If you had an actual warrant, Sheriff’s Deputies would contact you in person.
