GRANT COUNTY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was recently in KJDY Studios, and had a safety reminder recently for residents who heat their homes with a wood fire:
“We’ve seen a number of fires this winter that have been related to fireplaces and wood stoves. Usually, they’re boiling down to one of two things—either poor maintenance, or poor design. We really encourage folks [to keep in mind that] when you’re building it and installing it, you want to kind of over-build the safety aspects, in my opinion, on a wood stove.”
Also, Fire Chief Marvin Rynearson reminds everyone within the Grant County Fire Defense District to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
