WALLOWA – (Release from the Oregon Department of Transportation) The Bear Creek (Wallowa River) Bridge will be closed for two weeks starting May 15. This section of OR 82, from milepost 44.50 to 46.50, will be closed to all traffic from 7 a.m. Mondays through 5 p.m. Fridays. The bridge will be open on weekends. Closure ends Friday, May 26.
This is a full closure to all vehicles. We will stage a detour around the work zone using Lower Diamond Lane and Fifth Street in Wallowa.
The contractor is working on putting supports in place for the new bridge and this closure is needed to accommodate their equipment.
After the closure, travelers will see single lane access controlled by an automated traffic signal. The remainder of the new structure will be completed in fall 2023.
