Update from ODOT as of 2:25pm: “Conditions on I-84 right now are challenging. Winter weather is occurring throughout the corridor between Pendleton and Ontario, and much of the interstate is currently closed due to multiple spun out vehicles and crashes. Our crews are reporting seeing many trucks without chains on despite the current chain restrictions. Our crews cannot effectively treat the roads when unchained, spun out vehicles are blocking. If you must travel today, please make sure that you and your vehicle are prepared. Tripcheck.com will be up-to-date with what locations and directions of I-84 and other local highways are impacted. Smaller, local highways are not a detour route when I-84 is closed, and many are open to local traffic only. Do not wait on the interstate for it to open, please stay off the interstate where you have access to resources until you see on Tripcheck that it has reopened. Our crews are out in force, and we will open roads as soon as they are passible and it’s safe to do so.”

Update as of 12:52pm: ODOT is now reporting that I-84 is closed eastbound from Pendleton to Baker City and both directions from Baker City to La Grande.
CORRECTION UPDATE: ODOT has changed the closure information, which now shows that I-84 is closed from La Grande to Baker (eastbound), not Baker City to Ontario.
Previous: I-84 eastbound is closed from Baker City to Ontario due to multiple spun out commercial motor vehicles.
