LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) Four Eastern Women’s Soccer Students-Athletes were selected as 2022 Academic All District members. The 2022 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
The first Mountie who made the list is sophomore Madeline Barker. Barker started 17 matches as a goalkeeper in the 2022 season and tallied an impressive 51 saves with a .823 save percentage. The next is senior Yahaira Chavarria-Mondragon. Mondragon was a key defender for a Mountaineers defense that ranked first in the country in shutouts in the 2022 season. Next is junior Kana Mateaki. Mateaki started seven matches and tallied five goals as a key part of the Eastern offense. The final Mountie honored is senior Erika Skindlov. Skindlov started 17 matches, tallying five goals and six assists. Skindlov was named to the All-CCC First Team for her performance on the pitch in 2022.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
