Foster Care Month: Local demand for foster families

GRANT COUNTY – May is National Foster Care Month and one of the recent gusts on KJDY’s Coffee Time was Tammy Blessing, the DHS Regional Resource Family Recruitment and Retention Champion. Tammy informed listeners that even though the number of children in foster care has been decreasing statewide over the last few years, the need for foster families is ever-present–even in Grant County:

“In Grant County you have very few kids in foster care right now. There are 12 foster children experiencing care, and we have 11 certified families in Grant County to care for those children at the moment.”
