JEROME, Idaho – Brandalyn “Brandy” Maglaughlin, 42, is Jerome County Jail facing charges involved with felony aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon, felony assault with a deadly weapon, and felony unlawful discharge of a weapon at an occupied residence. Court records indicate she is being held without bail pending a competency evaluation.

She was arrested on Dec. 26, 2023. Idaho media reported that she had stabbed a man and that shots were fired. Marvin Lamm, 68, was injured and transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries have not been announced.

Maglaughlin was to appear in court to be arraigned on Dec. 28, 2023. She was still in jail, but did not appear and jail staff reported she was having behavioral health issues. It was at that time that the competency hearing was ordered.

The suspect was charged with shooting her husband, Donald Maglaughlin in the back of the head in March 2023 at their home near Hermiston. He survived that attack. Court records indicate that she was remanded to the Oregon State Hospital for treatment, prior to standing trial.

In July 2023 she was returned to the Umatilla County Jail. Court records further show that two more serious charges against Maglaughlin were dropped and she changed her plea to guilty on the lesser charge of unlawful use of a weapon. She was ordered to maintain mental health treatment and allowed to transfer her probation to Idaho so she could live with her mother in Jerome.
