According to Malheur National Forest Fire Prevention Technician Shyanne Slate, the Malheur National Forest’s North Zone (Blue Mountain and Prairie City Ranger Districts) will be moving to High Fire Danger beginning Friday, July 22nd. Even so, campfires will still be allowed in the North Zone, and Slate says it’s imperative the public use extreme caution when maintaining a campfire:
“There are no public use restrictions on the for campfires and recreating on the north end, so you can still have campfires in dispersed sites, but just make sure that they’re in a good ring. Clear your area of burnable material and then make sure you put your campfire out before you leave.”
