BAKER COUNTY – (Information from the Oregon State Police) It may seem trivial at times, but proper licensing and tags are essential when fishing and hunting in Oregon, especially when wanting to avoid legal repercussions. A forest Grove Resident, Carlos Benitez Trejo, was recently sighted on numerous tag violations after being confronted by the Oregon State Police in Baker County. The OSP release on the issue is as follows:
“OSP contacted a non-resident angler on the bank of the Brownlee Reservoir, Baker County. The non-resident angler was found to have purchased a resident hunting/angling license, including big game tags in the years of 2022 and 2023. The non-resident angler was cited in lieu of custody for Possession of Falsely Applied for License or Tags-Angling X2, Falsely Applied for License or Tags-Hunting X2, No Non- Resident Angling License and No Two-Rod Validation.”
Note that in this context “Non-Resident” refers to someone who has not resided in Oregon for at least six months according to ODFW licensing classification.
