LA GRANDE – (Information provided by La Grande Police Department)  On August 19th, 2021 at 1:00PM police officers from the La Grande Police Department received anonymous information reporting Albert Jared Horne (23) was on a stolen motorcycle near the 3000 block of Union Street.

Officers confirmed Horne had a valid Union County Arrest Warrant for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Reckless Endangering Another Person and Menacing. This warrant originated from a previous domestic violence incident investigated by the La Grande Police Department on July 19th, 2021.

At 1:32PM Officers attempted to contact Horne at a residence on the 3000 block of Union Street. Horne immediately fled on foot, leading officers on a foot pursuit near the Grande Ronde River. Horne then crossed the Grande Ronde River and started running on I-84, causing both westbound and eastbound traffic to stop. A Trooper from the Oregon State Police contacted Horne on the Interstate. After a short standoff, Horne gave up and was apprehended by the OSP Trooper, assisted by Deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

During this investigation, officers were able to recover a stolen 2017 Honda motorcycle that was reported stolen from Baker City on August 18th, 2021.

Horne was arrested for the Union County arrest warrant with additional charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Escape and Disorderly Conduct. The La Grande Police Department was assisted by the Oregon State Police, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.  The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
