LA GRANDE – (Information provided by Cook Memorial Library) Cook Memorial Library received the funds to create a food preservation library of things. These funds were made possible through a grant received from Oregon Rural Action and a local community member, Meghan Moore, who came up with the idea for the project.
“The long and short of the food preservation library is, I wanted to help local people preserve local food without spending hundreds of dollars on equipment. The idea of the grant came from attending a food insecurity conference hosted by Oregon Rural Action,” said Meghan Moore. Items included for check-out are pressure canners, fermentation crocks, food dehydrators, water bath canners, and books on food preservation.
