PENDLETON – A flood watch is in effect for the Blue Mountains and the western foothills through Thursday evening, with a flood warning for the Umatilla River near Gibbon.
The National Weather Service said excessive runoff could flood rivers, creeks, and streams putting low-lying and flood-prone areas at risk. Forecasters are predicting 3 to 4 inches of rain for the mountains with the foothills receiving 1.5 to 2.5 inches.
The weather service says any flooding is not expected to reach the levels seen last month.
Communities that could be affected include Pilot Rock, Pendleton, and Meacham in Oregon, as well as Walla Walla and Dayton in Washington.
